Designing BOCASU: Where Café Culture Meets Japanese Soul.
When I had the opportunity to write about BOCASU, I quickly realized that the café is more than just a place to enjoy coffee, sushi, and desserts — it’s an experience crafted from every detail, from the food to the service, and, most importantly, the space itself.
To bring this vision to life, the owner of BOCASU collaborated with Medy Navani, an architect and interior designer in Dubai. Medy has been shaping spaces for over 20 years through his firm Design Haus Medy, known for its thoughtful, high-end design projects. In addition, his company BOLD Bespoke Design specializes in creating customized furniture that complements each project perfectly, ensuring every element of BOCASU is intentional, functional, and beautiful.
Medy’s approach to BOCASU was about more than aesthetics; it was about crafting an environment where every cup of coffee, every plate of sushi, and every guest interaction is enhanced by the design of the space. From the serene interplay of light and shadow to the carefully chosen materials and textures, each detail was meticulously considered to create a calm, refined, and immersive experience.
Every corner of BOCASU tells a story — of Chef Yu’s culinary journey, the dedication of the team, and the harmony of a space where tradition and modernity meet. Writing about it allowed me to see not just the elegance of the café, but the thoughtfulness behind every design choice, every bespoke piece of furniture, and every element of the guest experience.
BOCASU isn’t just a café; it’s a space where craft, flavor, and design come together in perfect balance — and Medy Navani’s vision is a cornerstone of that harmony.
